  • iTunes Preview To The Rescue!

By U2 is a crap band
I've followed this band since 1980. They are a mere shadow of their former selves. I thank iTunes for giving us free previews so I could decide not to waste my money. This is the first U2 album that I will not purchase. This may appease new U2 fans, but for long time fans I can't imagine they can listen to Larry's drumming becoming so restrained, so programmed that he can't be recognized. Sounds like a roomful of yes-men producers kowtowed to the egos of Mssrs. Hewson and Evans. People mock Coldplay, but Chris Martin knows how to craft a catchy hook. These are Songs of Desperation.
  • U2’s Best Album Since How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

One of U2’s eight classic album’s. And of those eight, I would rank this album #4 behind Achtung Baby, Joshua Tree and All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

It feels more like Joshua tree era but evolved. I love The little things that give you away and Love is bigger than anything in its way. The whole album ie worth buying. Make sure you get the deluxe version. I only seen U2 once in concert in Champaign,IL in 1987. Best concert ever!

The best U2 since All That You Can’t Leave Behind...perhaps even better? Joyful, emotional, heartfelt...it’s all here.
  • A Great Return to Form!

What can I say about this album but when it hits you it really hits you... When I originally purchased it back in December, I was worried that it would have the same impact on me as Songs of Innocence, it was great idea, but in the end an uneven piece of work. Thankfully the same is not true here! Sure, I have favorites on this album and some less favorites, but this is the return to form that I couldn’t have dreamed for U2! So much so that this album has been playing in my house over and over for the past 3 months... I’m not sure if it’s just the deep meaning of the songs or the times we are living in, but these songs have really touched a chord. Songs like Get out of your way”, “American Soul”, “It’s the little things that give you away” or “Love is bigger than anything in its way” are so meaningful and feel so appropriate for the times we live in. U2 last few albums felt uninspired, but this is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a really long time! This album is definitely worth your time.

You can hear the soul in these songs. Songs only a wise, mature person could write.

As a longtime U2 fan, I gotta say this is one of their best in quite awhile. Like a lot of their best work, it keeps growing on me more with each listen. There are no other rock bands that continue to evolve and stay relevant the way these guys do. Really looking forward to hearing the new songs in concert. Favorites: Get Out of Your Own Way, Red Flag Day, and The Little Things That Give You Away.
  • I didn’t think I could fall in love w new music

At my age and with my musical synapses so long set, I figured I like some new stuff but never have that feeling of falling head over heels in love w new music again. Then I let SOE settle into my brain and I literally cannot stop listening to it. How a band w 40 yrs under their musical belts, that has produced so many epic songs and albums, could have created this masterpiece at this stage of their careers is beyond comprehension. It’s brilliant and is seriously contending for a spot in my top albums of all time. Can’t wait to see their upcoming. Tour. Buy this record and let it marinate. It’s wonderful.

I love love love U2. This has a few ok songs. I don't even listen to this at all. I think they have lost it. Just do another Zoo TV tour and your fans will be happy.
  • Loved U2, but...

...this album is horrendously bad. They need to completely revamp their direction, approach, manager, producer. God, Bono right some decent lyrics. You are lost and nowhere to be found. Edge is AWOL. Plays great live but guitar work on record is liked tailored nothingness. Stop trying to write radio songs and anthems. That part of your career is OVER, LONG GONE. concentrate on making good music. Period.
