Yet uneven. Mehldau's unenthusiastic playing, and indifferent approach at responding to the music of Bach has always left me baffled. His playing of Bach is competent at best, but one sense that he really has no idea what's going on. His response pieces are nothing more than half a melody of Bach interspersed with his trademark hipster vamping. As a concept album, it's only slightly better than the nonesense Chad Lawson churns out over Bach and Chopin. -Bz

As a fan of Mehldau and Bach, I feel privileged to be able to own this!

A modern masterpiece tribute to the one and only Bach. I always hear some Bach in Mehldau improvvisation so I am not all that surprised by this album. Not only i bought digitally but I already placed an order for the phoisical CD, this is an album that I must own phisically. Impeccable work of genius.
So far! Look forward to the rest.
