Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
Saw Maren Morris sing this on Grammy Salute TVSpecial. It is both beautiful and haunting. Her rendition is worth every penny!!
Wow. Every song is solid. Standouts are delivered by Maren Morris, Don Henley with Vince Gil, Chris Stapleton and my favorite: Lee Ann Womack’s version of Honky Cat.
Just so everyone knows who doesn’t get the “country vibe” of this album, here ya go. Bernie Taupin his lyricist aka The Browndirt Cowboy did the art work for the album plus dreamed of a country/folk album. Elton chose to do Revamp which selected Pop stars to do new renditions of the songs. 2 albums celebrating the work of the most amazing duo of all time. What an honor and such talent.
My fathers gun
One of the most amazing songs I’ve never heard!!! This is why I love Miranda Lambert she brings the light to songs gone far to long not listened to the way they should be!!!
By C. Copeland
It’s great but can’t give it a 5 Star without “Tiny Dancer” on it. I wish Maren could’ve sang both songs and maybe added John Mayer with her, too.
Miranda Killed it!
Love it! Miranda can nail any song! Queen!
Sorry hit and a miss.
Take Your Pick - It's In There
Some of these cuts made me wince, but a couple of them hit the mark for me - both had an old-timey sound that made me feel like I was hearing some just-uncovered gems from decades ago - "Please" and "Honky Cat." I never cared for Elton John's orignal "Honky Cat," but Lee Ann Womack's version is perfect - her voice, the uncluttered arrangement, and the narrator now a woman, instead of a man.
Nearly as bad as the Revamp collection
Was really anticipating this one even more so than the pop covers, but these songs are mostly hit and miss. Just encourages me to play the original EJ tracks. Not much to be gained here.
leave well enough alone
The original song is far better than all of these songs. Don't mess with perfection.
